1. Search for, register, and rent a suitable domain name for your website.
The domain name is the address of your website and must be unique name, something like www.MyWebsite.com.
After choosing an available name it must be registered with Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the name must be rented on a yearly basis.
Fortunately this is an inexpensive procedure. The domain name should cost you less than $10.00 per year and can be paid through LV Company or directly to the provider.
In addition to the cost of the name LVCompany charges $20.00 to help acquire and register the name.
2. Arrange for hosting service.
Websites must be stored on a computer called a server. Server space is rented on a monthly or yearly basis from a hosting company. There are numerous hosting companies and many different pricing packages.
LV Company works to insure that you pay the lowest possible monthly fee for web hosting. The hosting cost for my website that you are looking at now is approximately $4.00 per month.
LV Company charges $30.00 to arrange website hosting which includes setting up associated email accounts.
3. Design the layout and the look and feel of your website using graphics software.
Usually your site is designed around your existing artwork like your logo or business card.
If your company has not yet choosen a logo or brand colors LV Company works with you to build designs from scratch and/or use stock photos and graphics that can be purchased.
The price for this service depends on the complexity of the tasks.
4. Develop and publish your website using HTML or a similar coding language and graphics.
The website is coded which makes it readable by the user's browser. It is then published/uploaded onto your new server space.
The price for this service depends on the complexity of the website. Typically the first or home page is the most difficult to develop and the following pages are similar to the home page and therefore not as difficult to develop and not as expensive.
LV Company usually charges between $200.00 and $600.00 to develop and publish the home page and a seperate charge for additional pages according to their complexity.
5. Maintain and update the new website or your existing website.
LV Company maintains your site with regularly updated content or makes adjustments to the layout as necessary.
The price for this depends on the amount of updates per month and how the updates are submitted. For example, it is easier for LV Company to "cut and paste" if content is submitted in a text document than it is to type the content from a hand-written or verbal message.
The price for updating the website on an "as needed" basis is according to the complexitity of the task.
